Influencers often curate a seemingly perfect life, which can adversely affect the mental health of followers, particularly young and impressionable ones. Studies have linked heavy social media use to issues like anxiety, depression, and body image concerns, with influencer culture playing a significant role.

The controversies extend beyond the influencers to the platforms themselves. Algorithms designed to maximize engagement often amplify sensational or controversial content, inadvertently promoting harmful narratives.
