Psychological Laws of UX and UI Design

UX stands for user experience, which refers to the overall satisfaction a user feels while interacting directly or indirectly with a service or product. UX design is about designing a UI that provides a satisfying experience for the user. In other words, the user-centered design is designed to make the user happy. UI is the face that a user sees when using a product or service. In other words, it's the medium through which users can interact with a product or service. UI design is, therefore, the visual design that users will encounter, such as fonts, colors, and layout. There are three of the ten psychological laws of UX and UI design.

Miller’s Law
The average person can only keep 7 (plus or minus 2) items in their working memory. It tells us to "chunk" things so that people can easily remember them. For example, '01012345678 -> 010-1234-5678' is easier to remember if you chunk it up.

Tesler’s Law
It is also known as The Law of Conservation of Complexity, which states that for any system, a certain amount of complexity cannot be reduced. Certain features have a level of complexity that cannot be simplified any further.

Doherty Threshold
Productivity soars when a computer and its users interact at a pace (<400ms) that ensures that neither has to wait on the other. Keep users engaged by providing timely feedback within 400ms. Reduce wait time and enhance user experience with progress bars, animations, and other interactive elements.

A UI is like a highway - a straight road that gets you to your destination quickly and safely but doesn't offer beautiful scenery. In the same way, UI is the visual part of a product or service that is designed to be used quickly and conveniently. Still, unlike UX design, it doesn't take into account the user's experience or satisfaction. UX design is like a curvy road, slowing down to enjoy the mountain and ocean views. It is to understand the user's experience and goals and design a UI that can fulfill them along with speed and stability.
