Scientific Verification of LK-99 and the Future with Superconductors

Recently, research papers on superconductors (LK-99) have been unveiled in the arXiv. Superconductors possess distinctive characteristics, unlike those of regular conductors. Firstly, the electrical resistance of a superconductor is zero. Secondly, there is the Meissner effect, where the internal magnetic field within a material is expelled in the presence of an external magnetic field. This phenomenon allows materials to levitate in mid-air.

Historically, superconductivity was only observed at extremely low temperatures. Scientist Heike Kamerlingh Onnes, who successfully created liquid helium, discovered that mercury's resistance became zero at a specific temperature. Subsequent researchers achieved superconductivity at relatively higher temperatures by mixing various materials.

LK-99 is a substance invented by researchers Lee Suk-Bae and Kim Ji-Hoon at the Quantum Energy Research Centre at Korea University. According to their claims, it exhibits superconducting properties at room temperature and normal pressure. However, the response from the academic community has been cautious. There remains division on this matter, with some asserting that the videos provided by the center are insufficient to define LK-99 as a superconductor.

If successful, the commercialization of superconductors could propel humanity's scientific progress forward once again. MRI could become popular, and public transportation systems could experience increased speed and efficiency. Furthermore, the economic losses resulting from heat generation due to electrical resistance would be eliminated.

The discovery and practical application of superconductors have the potential to enhance the quality of human life. Advancements in natural science and long-term investments therein are akin to nurturing a tree of science that can bear the sweet fruits of impactful outcomes.
