How do people imagine? Like the logic behind why humans eat when they are hungry, imagining is often not a subject of doubt or curiosity and people usually do not get curious about the logic behind it. Before delving deeper into how humans imagine, what is imagination? 

Imagination is not about observing the real situations happening right in front of people, but rather about contemplating remembered thoughts or envisioning situations that humans desire without constraints. In this way, mental images that come to mind without stimulating the sensory organs are referred to as ‘imagery.’ People usually make plans and take action through this imagery. But how can humans conjure up images in their minds when they’re not even actually watching them? Now let’s delve into the main topic of how humans can imagine. 

Humans possess several sensory organs, and when discussing visual imagery, neuroscientists suggest that visual imagination involves a process opposite to what occurs in the brain when humans see something. When people look at an object, information is initially transmitted from the eyeball to the visual cortex at the back of the brain. 

However, when people imagine something, this information is processed differently, involving stimulation of the frontal part of our brain. To explain this process in detail, when the brain’s executive system, such as the prefrontal lobe, decides to engage in imagination, the memory system located in the temporal lobe provides information about what to imagine, allowing the sensory perception system to create mental imagery. People may think of the concept of imagination as something quite simple, but when it is explored closely, it is definite that imagination is the result of a lot of processes happening through our brains.
