The long-awaited championship drought has ended for the LG Twins of the KBO league, as they clinched their first pennant-race title after 29 years. The LG Twins, after winning their second Korean Series title in 1994, with the prior title in 1990, have been through numerous ups and downs as their youth farm system did not thrive, and their front office did not acknowledge the real problems of the team.

This year, though, the same disaster did not replay for the Twins organization. After confirming their pennant-clinching moment in their away bus heading to Busan, they are on their way to prepare for the 2023 Korean Series, awaiting them in November. With their new coach Yeom, and their franchise shortstop Oh, they aim for their third Korean Series clinching victory.

The LG Twins’ last appearance in the Korean Series was in 2002, after they tasted their fourth defeat against the Samsung Lions, with their closer Lee allowing a walkoff homer to their clean-up hitter Ma. After the bittersweet 2002 campaign, they struggled to put their wheels back on, when they finally came back to the postseason in 2013. Yes, the LG Twins had failed to reach the postseason from 2003 to 2012. 

With the front office finally cooperating with the coaches, and the leadership from the captain, the LG Twins ended their pennant race with 86 wins, the second-best win record they have ever established.
