Which K-dramas will be Popular this Fall and Winter?

Following the current popularity of K-pop, K-dramas are also receiving a lot of attention. With so many K-dramas and movies being loved around the world through OTT, let's take a look at which Korean dramas are making a splash and waiting for us this fall and winter as the weather turns chilly.

1. Doona!
The Netflix series "Doona!" is a romance drama that follows Won Joon, an ordinary college student living in a shared house in Seoul, who meets Doona, who has retired from her glamorous K-pop idol career. It consists of 9 episodes and is based on a webtoon. Actor Yang Se-jong’ and actress Bae Suzy, who has idol experience through girl group called miss A, star as the main characters, so the drama has been garnering attention even before its release. On the first day, it ranked third in Netflix's global non-English language TV category, and its popularity is still increasing day by day. 

2. Daily Dose of Sunshine
The drama "Daily Dose of Sunshine" was released on Netflix on the 3rd of this month and tells the story of Da-eun, a nurse who works in a psychiatric ward for the first time. It is a Netflix healing series that captures the darkness of the dawn and the hope of the morning. Starring actress Park Bo-young as the main character, it has been a hit on Netflix's Top 10 since its release. 

3. Castaway Diva
The drama "Castaway Diva" which has been airing on TVN, is a healing and growth drama about the diva challenge of Seo Mok-hwa, an aspiring singer who was rescued from a deserted island after 15 years, with actor Park Eun-bin as the main character. The drama is fun to watch as viewers wonder who the missing male protagonist, Jung Gi-ho, could be. The drama has been well-received and has a 5.6% viewership rating after three episodes and is available on Netflix, SeriesOn, and TVING. 

4. Strong Girl Nam-soon 
The drama "Strong Girl Nam-soon " which began airing on JTBC last October, is a spin-off of the popular drama "Strong Girl Bong-soon" in 2017 and has been gaining popularity ever since. It is a family and comedy drama about Nam-soon, her mother, and grandmother who are innately endowed with tremendous strength and dig into the truth of new drug crimes centered in Gangnam. It had a peak viewership rate of 9.8% and ranked #1 in 13 countries on Netflix. 

Next, let’s look at what’s coming in December.

1. Sweet Home Season 2
Set to premiere on December 1, the Netflix original series Sweet Home 2 is the follow-up to Season 1, which premiered in 2020, with Season 3 set for release in 2024. In a world where desire becomes a monster, Hyun-Soo and the survivors of Green Home struggle to survive in their new home, as well as the emergence of other beings and mysterious phenomena. It's a horror and thriller drama with new desires, events, and struggles. As the first season was popular, many people are expecting its release. 

2. Gyeongseong Creature
Netflix's original series "Gyeongseong Creature," set to premiere on December 22, is a history and thriller drama about two young people who face a monster born out of greed in the spring of 1945, when survival was at its darkest. The movie stars Park Seo-joon and Han So-hee as the main characters and many people are anticipating it.

Korean dramas are becoming increasingly popular around the world through OTT, and people are looking forward to seeing what diverse K-dramas will be released next.
