Recently, the movie "The Marvels" was released. "The Marvels", produced by Marvel Studios attracted many Korean Marvel fans because of the unexpected cast of Park Seojun, a famous Korean actor. However, according to a famous movie critic website called Rotten Tomatoes, "The Marvels" only received a score of 62%, while other movies, especially from Marvel received a score above 85. This movie didn't only let down Koreans but all Marvel fans across the world. Some even thought that "Captain Marvel" was made by a third-class movie company. 

Before the 2020 Pandemic, Marvel movies were always on top in theatres worldwide, and Marvel movies brought in at least 300 million dollars in revenue every time. For example, "Avengers: End Game", released in 2019, earned 2.8 billion dollars, which ranked 2nd place in worldwide box office hits history. It was safe to say that Marvel was dominating the box office, making at least 20 billion dollars during the 2010s. However, these historic records were ruined by a historic disaster, "The Marvels".

After the huge success of Marvel, many companies including DC Comics started producing movies and animations on superheroes. For example, DC Comics' movies "Venom" and "Aquaman" brought huge success. Before the release of "Iron Man" by Marvel, action movies with narratives dominated the market. However, Marvel changed the flow and became the trendsetter, being the best in the market. However, although these actions have brought great movies and multibillion-dollar revenue to the company, "The Marvels" brought shame to the company, disappointment to its audience, and eventually led to a box office failure, getting just over 2.7 ratings even on Google. 

To sum up, Marvel Studios affected Hollywood, and the flow of the movie markets. They built their own identity and changed the trends, making an astronomical amount of money. However, their newest movie, "The Marvels" has been nothing but a disappointment, and I hope that they get on track soon to dominate Hollywood and the movie market once again.
