It has been hundreds of years since the last civilization faced demise. Despite all their fames and achievements, it is a phenomenon that is simply inevitable, mainly due to the eventual convergence of numerous factors contributing to a civilization’s downfall.

Environmental exacerbation serves a pivotal role in this. A conventional definition of this would be the depletion of natural resources, primarily due to a devastating famine, leading to ecological imbalance and starvation. One of the causes of the French Revolution was a lack of food from poor harvests, making people shockingly upset. But the recent environmental issues, namely global warming, deforestation, air and ocean pollution, are a more modern understanding of the problem, anticipated to undermine the foundation of the world now.

This issue contributes to societal divisions, where people form polarized groups-weakening the social fabric. Protests, riots, and terrorism between these groups would lead to something more than just tension in the world. Wars, along with germs being the single most cause of civilization’s death, would swipe tremendous populations.

Countries try to take advantage of warfare; often, as shown in the Great Depression, they attempt to do so overly, losing control of their economy. Not to mention political instability and government corruption; weak leadership fails to address challenges effectively, perpetuating a cycle of dysfunction. As societies continue to interact and evolve, these factors are accentuated more and more, and for the question of whether our civilization is an exception, no evidence for that.
