Geographical conditions have changed everything in the world. China’s diverse geographic features, the Himalayas, the Gobi Desert, the Great Wall, and rivers, changed China's history and culture. It still plays a significant role in the country's safety. Because China has diverse and dynamic geographic features, it gains a marvelous shield to defend its country from its past, present, and future growth.
China is one of the countries that has benefited the most from geographical conditions. Ancient China has strengthened and developed its factors, becoming one of the world's strongest countries these days. China has a geographical environment that can prevent invasion from the outside, like a natural fortress made by nature.
The Pacific Ocean borders the southeastern part of China, and the Gobi Desert on the North side blocks the way to Mongolia. The Himalayas and Myanmar jungle shield India in the west. However, no matter how much China has natural solid barriers, the enemy can intentionally invade. For example, in the Qin Dynasty, China was invaded by nomads called Xiongnu.
From this point on, China began to enhance its natural fortress. One, they built the Great Wall. The 13,171-mile-long wall was able to block invasion from the north completely. The other examples are the Yellow and Yangtze Rivers, representing China. However, trade between the two rivers was difficult because they were 1,800 kilometers away. So in the 6th century, China mobilized 7 million enslaved people to build a great canal connecting the two rivers. The two rivers were an important way to trade between the South and the North, and it is the background of today's integration of more than 50 minorities into one and becoming a giant country.
