Norman Foster was born in 1935 in Manchester, England. He studied architecture and city planning at the University of Manchester. He then earned a Master’s Degree in Architecture at Yale University. He was one of the members of Team 4, a British architectural firm that included Su Brumwell, Wendy Cheesman, No해rman Foster, and Richard Rogers.
The Future Positive: Norman Foster exhibition was held at the Seoul Museum of Art (SeMA) from April 25 to July 21, 2024. This exhibition is the largest of his exhibitions in Asia. His exhibition, which started in the 1960s and has continued with over 500 projects, is a meaningful exhibition that encompasses the concept of sustainability and a vision for the future.
There is a research project on the Gomera region created with consideration for the weather and conditions of the location, a forest pavilion for Fred Olsen that conserves energy while preserving the environment, and a pavilion in the forest located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, that maintains a constant temperature by circulating air.
This is an exhibition where you can appreciate his philosophy: "As an architect, you design for the present with an awareness of the past for a future that is essentially unknown" by viewing eco-friendly and sustainable models ranging from small-scale to large buildings.
