The employment market is changing rapidly as AI technology becomes increasingly integrated into our daily lives. Some jobs are gaining more attention, while others are being replaced. New opportunities are emerging, especially in professions that emphasize distinctively human strengths in collaboration with AI.

Over the next ten years, experts anticipate a significant rise in demand for AI-related jobs. Nearly 97 million new jobs are expected to be created by 2027, according to the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2023. Which occupations are likely to thrive in the AI era?

The data analyst comes first. Large datasets can be gathered and processed by AI; however, the process of interpreting the results and applying them to decision-making still falls to humans. Demand is high across industries like business, government, and education.

Second is the AI engineer. They are professionals who design and train AI systems. Strong skills in mathematics and programming—particularly in Python or TensorFlow—are crucial for success in this field.

Third is the AI ethics specialist. This role ensures that AI systems don’t discriminate or make unethical decisions. It’s a hybrid career that bridges technology and the humanities,  requiring knowledge in sociology, philosophy, or law.

Fourth is the UX designer. These professionals focus on creating user-friendly interfaces for AI technologies. Human-centered design (HCD) is key, and creativity and communication are vital skills.

Fifth is the mental health coach or counselor. Empathy and emotional connection—traits that AI cannot replicate—make this profession irreplaceable. As digital life expands, the demand for mental health services among youth and workers continues to grow.

In the end, AI won’t replace everything. Instead, jobs that work alongside AI or emphasize human qualities will shine even brighter.
