NEO, developed by 1X Technologies, is claimed to be the first consumer-ready humanoid robot designed specifically for home use. Interest in this robot has recently peaked online after the company announced that pre-orders for NEO will open on October 28.
According to 1X Technologies’ official website, NEO is a bipedal humanoid robot that can “walk with a natural human gait and arm swings, squat down to pick things up from the ground, and sit in chairs.” The newest NEO model available for pre-order is designed to minimise operating noise while increasing hardware reliability. With various AI systems, including a language model, computer vision, and manipulation AI, NEO is capable of doing different household chores—reducing the human work required in everyday life.

NEO is still in the pre-order stage, but 1X Technologies has promised customers that deliveries are expected to start in 2026. There are two plans available: Standard, which is a monthly subscription of $499 per month, and Early Access, which offers ownership with a three-year warranty for $20,000.
Although the company states that NEO is “consumer ready,” it is unclear whether full autonomy is guaranteed, and there are potential privacy issues regarding data collection. While this new product represents a significant step toward robots in everyday life, questions remain about whether the robot will perform as expected.
