Today’s teenagers are faced with increasing pressure to be perfect. Whether it is in school, on social media, or when looking toward their future, they believe that simply being good is never enough. This relentless pressure is rapidly turning into a serious mental health problem.
The main reason why adolescents suffer from anxiety and stress is that they are highly competitive academically.
They put a vast amount of work into achieving good grades and getting into elite universities because they know that making a small error in their schoolwork could negatively affect their future.
Social media further fuels this emotional distress. Children today are exposed daily to countless pictures of peers showing off their achievements.

Consequently, it becomes easy for adolescents to look at the accomplishments of others and judge themselves compared to their peers. When they view themselves as inferior, it severely damages their self-image and leads to deeper emotional strain.
Furthermore, this anxiety is compounded by an obsessive focus on their physical appearance and future careers. This pressure for perfection seems to plague more teens than ever before. Although the process of goal-setting can be beneficial, unattainable expectations seem to cause nothing but disappointment. In a world demanding perfection, acceptance and self-improvement might just be the better path to take.
