When RESCENE debuted in 2024, the group was far from a household name in the K-pop industry. Its management agency, The Muze Entertainment, was a small company compared with Korea’s major entertainment agencies. Although RESCENE’s debut album recorded around 34,000 first-week album sales, the group struggled to gain mainstream attention. The company also faced financial difficulties, recording an operating loss of approximately 5.6 billion won in 2025.
What changed RESCENE’s situation was not a massive advertising campaign or a huge marketing budget. In early 2025, member Woni's YouTube channel, ‘helloiamwoninicetomeetyou,’ began gaining attention. Her natural personality and entertaining interactions with other members attracted viewers who were not already fans, drawing new audiences to the group. Short clips from the videos also spread across social media, allowing RESCENE to reach audiences beyond its existing fandom.
However, YouTube alone does not explain the group’s rise. As more people discovered RESCENE, attention shifted to the group’s music, particularly its distinctive “scent” concept and dreamy sound. Fans then shared songs, performances, and member-focused content on social media, attracting even more listeners.
As a result, “LOVE ATTACK,” a song originally released in 2024, surged on the charts and reached No. 1 on Melon’s Top 100 nearly two years after its release. This momentum continued into August. According to the Korea Reputation Institute’s August Star Brand Reputation rankings, RESCENE ranked first, ahead of BTS. Its brand reputation index rose from 5.01 million to 7.05 million in one month, a rise of about 40.5%.
RESCENE’s success shows that creativity and genuine connection can sometimes be more powerful than financial resources. In 2024, few people knew RESCENE. Today, like the “scent” in its name, it is spreading its own scent to the world.
