Incheon International Airport Corporation held the World Airport Congress (WAC) 2026 from September 8 to 10. It was held at Paradise City Incheon. Airports, companies, and aviation organizations from around the world took part in the event. They discussed the future of the airport industry.
WAC 2026 had five main sessions. The sessions were “Beyond an Airport, Beyond AI,” “Terminal Ambience for Differentiated Experience,” “Enhancing AVSEC Operation Efficiency,” “Innovation in Air Cargo Business,” and “Airport Construction and Expansion Plan.” Many companies also joined the exhibition. LG CNS, Amadeus, and Xovis showcased new technologies for airports.
Airport security was one of the main topics. Sascha König from Fraport introduced QPS Walk2000 at Frankfurt Airport. It allows passengers to be screened while walking. Early tests showed some problems because some passengers walked too fast. The airport later added signs and videos to guide them.

Air cargo was also discussed. Jimmy Liu from Taipei Taoyuan Airport introduced the airport’s cargo plans. The session showed how airports can support global industries through air cargo. The final session covered airport construction and expansion. Representatives from Narita Airport and other airports shared their plans for future growth.
WAC 2026 gave visitors opportunities to experience new technologies. AI-based translation helped people understand sessions in different languages. The presentation slides were also useful for following the discussions. However, some sessions were quite long and included technical topics, so they could be difficult for non-experts.
Airports are changing in ways that passengers can already see. New technology is not only making airport processes faster. It is also changing how people move, wait, and use airport services. Overall, WAC 2026 showed how technology and global cooperation are shaping the airports of the future.
