We are now living in an era in which AI influences various aspects of our lives. AI provides us with useful information and opens new possibilities for creativity. AI-generated content can also cause various forms of harm. As AI-generated content becomes more widespread, it is important to consider both its positive and negative effects. AI-generated content can provide entertainment and useful information, but it can also be misused for harmful purposes such as creating deepfakes and violating copyright.

According to a recent survey conducted by PMI, which included 1,000 men and women aged 20 to 59 who had watched online content in the previous three months, 62.4% of respondents said they could not distinguish between real content and AI-generated content, while 45.7% said they could distinguish between the two. What is particularly interesting is how people reacted after learning that the content had been created by AI. Among the 642 respondents who had mistaken AI-generated content for real content, 37.2% said they found it interesting, while 26.0% reported that their trust in the channel or account that posted the content had decreased.

This contrast can also be seen in a recent AI-generated dance video that gained attention on social media. The video featured the faces of famous music producers superimposed onto a girl group’s dance performance, creating an unusual scene that attracted attention and made people laugh. However, as these videos spread, concerns also arose about the use of someone’s face without their consent and the possible violation of their image rights and personal rights.

This shows that videos created for entertainment can become problematic. Therefore, rather than blindly trusting or rejecting AI-generated content, we need to consider its purpose and check whether the information is accurate.

We should also establish standards that respect creative freedom while protecting the rights of others. As AI technology continues to develop, the most important question is how we can use it responsibly.
