As summer came with the storm, people began to go on subway trips to avoid the blazing sun. Now that many subway lines are available, there are five of the most popular attractions. 

Representatively, the Han River Mongdang Summer Festival, which will be held in downtown Seoul, offers a variety of enjoyable events, such as paper boat race. Moreover, the Han River Summer Music Picnic will be held from August 2nd to August 10th. 

The festival has musicians in different genres. When you get off the Jonggak Station on Line No. 1 and walk for five minutes from entrance No. 1, there is Jogyesa Temple on the street. If you enjoy Temple Stay, it is a great place to visit. 

The city's first green arboretum is located on the Hangdong Railway outside the city center. It is great to visit at cool evening time.

Take Exit 2 of Hyehwa in Line No. 4 and follow the road leading to Naksan Park to see Ewha Mural Village located at the foot of Naksan Mountain. It might be a whole new experience with the aesthetic view of landscapes. 

If you come to the Independence Gate f Line 3, you will see the Independence Gate, which was built to gain civil rights and independence in history. Inside of it is the Seodaemun Prison History Hall. Here, it detailedly illustrates the scene of torture and pain of imprisonment during the March 1 Independence Movement, which 100th anniversary was celebrated this year.

An official at the Seoul Metropolitan Transportation Corporation said, "As the summer vacation season is coming along, I hope you experience the unique beauty of hidden sights of the city.”

휴가철 맞아 서울 지하철 타고 갈 수있는 다양한 명소

장마가 걷히자 무더위가 기승을 부리는 한여름 8월, 더위를 피하기 위한 피서지로 지하철을 이용한 국내 여행이 인기를 모으고 있다. 지하철을 이용해 갈수 있는 가장 인기 있는 5곳의 명소들을 소개한다.

가장 대표적으로는 서울 시내에서 열리는 한강몽땅 여름축제가 있다. 한강몽땅 여름축제에서는 종이배를 만들고 경주하는 등 다양한 즐길거리가 제공된다. 8월 2~3일,9~10일까지는 한강썸머뮤직피크닉이 열린다. 

다양한 장르에서 활동하는 음악인들이 공연하는 한강몽땅 여름축제는 놓칠수 없는 기회다. 1호선 종각역 2번 출구에서 걸어서 5분 거리에 있는 조계사에서 템플스테이를 체험해 보는 것도 권해볼 만한 명소이다. 

도심외각에 있는 항동철길에서는 서울시 최초의 푸른수목원이 있다. 저녁 때쯤 날씨가 선선할 때 찾아가기에는 매우 좋은 장소다.

4호선 혜화에서 2번 출구로 나와 낙산공원으로 이어지는 길을 따라가면 낙산 산자락에 위치한 이화벽화마을을 둘러볼 수 있다. 이곳에서는 또다른 풍경의 예술이 펼쳐지는 색다름을 느껴볼 수가 있다.

3호선 독립문역 쪽으로 나오면 자주민권과 자강독립을 꿈꾼다는 의미로 세워진 독립문이 보인다. 그 안쪽에는 서대문형무소 역사관이 있다. 올해로 100주년을 맞이한 3.1운동 당시 열사들이 투옥되어 모진 고초를 겪었던 현장이 그대로 남아있다.

서울교통공사 관계자는 “여름 휴가철을 맞아 최근 국내 여행이 다시 주목을 받고 있는데 서울 지하철을 타고 도심 속에서 다양한 명소를 찾아 색다른 추억을 느껴보시길 바란다”며 지하철을 이용한 여름 피서를 적극 추천했다.
