Currently, many countries around the world are facing a major crisis as the Corona 19 spread rapidly since it first broke out in January. As of March 11, the number of confirmed Corona 19 patients surpassed 120,000 worldwide, with as many as 110 countries reporting the cases of the virus.

The movie "Cold," which was released seven years ago, is rapidly emerging among the nations in Korea who are confused by the aftermath of Corona. The movie "Cold" shows the struggles of people surviving in the worst situation of a deadly disease in city Bundang. Recently, the film has been on a sharp rise in Korea. On the movie site, the number of views surged to as high as 7th from outside the top 100 list of content many have seen. In fact, why did so many people want to see the movie even though watching it does not help prevent the virus?

An analysts said one of the big reasons is that the situation in the movie can be comforted by watching it solve. In the movie, the medical team finds the solution to calm the virus by using antibodies from survivors. As many people eagerly wait for the coronavirus vaccine to come out, the happy ending in the movie must have given people a sense of comfort. It is also because the contents of the movie fit into the current situation, raising people's awareness and curiosity. There are many similarities between the current reality and the situation in the movie.

The content that the virus from other countries spread rapidly and threatens life and the government's counter plan that intensively manages the city in which the infection firstly occurred are especially similar. In the movie, lawmakers and mayors are seen putting their people at risk just for their benefits. They do not listen to the advice and suggestions proposed by the medical staff and experts, but only by the eyes of the great powers, they move as the great powers want.

The government's attempt made the situation worse, and this shows how important the role of leaders and government is in the crisis of the country.

Also, the medical team in the movie tries its best to ensure the safety of the people, and many people take the lead to overcome the bad situation. In the beginning, the Korean government failed to cope with the problem due to relations with China. However, now many medical staff, the leaders, the government, and most people are showing quick and wise responses and respecting each other. It made the situation better.

Like the ending in the movie "Cold," we hope to find a solution for the coronavirus soon to prevent further damage and keep people secure.

현실로 다가온 영화 속 이야기

영화 ‘감기'의 급격한 상승세 ... 그 이유는?

현재, 1월에 처음 발생된 ’코로나 19’가 빠른 속도로 전파되면서 전 세계의 수많은 나라들이 큰 위기 상황을 겪고 있다. 12일 기준, 코로나19 감염 확진자는 전 세계적으로 12만 명을 넘어섰고, 무려 110여 개 국에서 감염자가 나왔다고 보도가 되었다. 코로나의 여파로 혼란스러운 우리나라 국민들 사이에서 급격하게 떠오르는 영화는 바로 7년 전 개봉 되었던 영화 ‘감기’이다. 영화 감기는 베트남에서 전파된 조류 바이러스가 급속도로 분당에 퍼지게 되면서 일어나는 많은 일들과 살아남기 위한 사람들의 사투를 보여주는 영화이다.

최근에 이 영화는 사람들 사이에서 급격한 상승세를 타서 한 영화 사이트에서는 많이 본 콘텐츠 100위권 밖에서 무려 7위까지 조회수가 급상승하였다. 사실상 영화보기는 실질적으로 바이러스 예방에 도움을 줄 수 없는데도 불구하고 많은 사람들이 이 영화를 찾게 된 이유는 무엇일까?

분석가들은 큰 이유 중 하나는 영화 속의 상황이 해결되는 것을 봄으로써 위안을 얻을 수 있기 때문이라고 한다. 영화 속에서 의료진들은 생존자로부터 항체가 있다는 사실을 알아내 바이러스를 잠재울 해결방안을 찾았다.

많은 국민들이 코로나 바이러스의 백신이 나오길 간절히 기다리는 만큼, 영화 속의 행복한 결말은 사람들에게 안정감을 주었을 것이다.

또한, 영화 속의 내용이 현재의 상황과 맞아떨어지면서 사람들에게 경각심과 호기심을 일깨웠기 때문이기도 하다. 영화 속에서의 다른 나라에서 전파된 바이러스가 급속도로 퍼져 생명을 위협한다는 내용과 최초 발생 지역인 도시를 집중 관리한 정부의 대처 등을 보면 현재 상황과 유사한 점이 많다. 영화 속에서는 자신들의 이익만을 위해 국민들을 위험에 빠뜨리는 국회의원들과 시장의 모습이 비춰진다. 그들은 의료진과 전문가들이 제시한 대책은 전혀 듣지 않은 채 오직 강대국의 눈치를 보며 강대국이 원하는 대로 움직인다. 영화 속 정부의 대처는 상황을 더 악화시키고, 이를 통해 나라의 위기 상황 속 지도자와 정부의 역할이 얼마나 중요한지를 잘 보여주었다.
또한, 영화 속 의료진은 국민들의 안전을 위해 최선을 다하며 발빠르게 대처하고,  많은 국민들 역시 의지에 불타 다같이 이겨내기 위해 앞장서서 나선다.

초반에는 우리나라 정부가 중국과의 관계 때문에 국민들에게 미흡한 대처를 하였지만, 현재는 많은 의료진, 정부, 또 대부분의 국민들이 서로 배려하며 발빠르고 현명한 대처를 보여주고 있어 점점 안정을 취하는 추세이다.

영화 ‘감기' 속의 결말처럼, 빠른 시일 내에  코로나 바이러스에 대한 해결책을 찾아 더 큰 피해를 방지하고 많은 사람들의 목숨을 살릴 수 있길 바란다.
