Seoul has been offering a large range of cultural activities from museum exhibitions to concerts in the comfort of their homes through the internet.

With the prolongation of the Coronavirus, new ways of expressing the cultural and artistic worlds have surfaced, such as viewing exhibitions through VR (Virtual Reality).

The Baekje Museum has been introducing its special exhibitions through VR technology. On their website (https://baekjemuseum.seoul.go.kr/), visitors can appreciate exhibits like ‘Baekje’s Sansungjung’, ‘Silla Wolseongjeon at Hanseong’, which introduce the main artifacts of Wolseong, Gyeongju, the ‘Gateway of the Korean-Chinese Exchange, Shandong-East Asia Silk Road Story’. This introduces the relics of Shandong City. Besides these exhibitions, there are more than 30 experiential ones available.

The Seoul Museum of Art (https://www.youtube.com/user/SeoulMuseumofArt/) has been communicating and answering questions with curators about the museum through their social media accounts. In addition, they have been introducing museum collections, showcasing educational programs, and holding online exhibitions through live streams and posts.

The DM Village (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCG8nU9cz8Z1tYC3DP8Qvd5g), which contains a century worth of art, has sequentially been publishing docent videos that tour the various exhibitions in the village. Through videos like the ‘DM Club’, ‘Computer Game Center’, Saemunan Comic Book Room’, and the ‘Barber Shop on the Three-Way Intersection’, the 1960s era and different locations throughout the village are introduced.

The Seoul Museum of History’s (https://museum.seoul.go.kr/) ‘Seoul Train’ exhibition holds the first train to ever be made in South Korea. It is an interesting exhibition as it allows people who have not ridden the train to have the opportunity to view the machine that operated from modern days to its end in the 70s.

With the effects of the Coronavirus and social distancing, there are programs specially designed to support the performing arts industry that suffered from canceling performances. The Sejong Center for the Performing Arts’ (https://www.youtube.com/user/sejongpac/) online concert ‘Cheer Up Concert’ has been one of the few programs. Every Saturday and Sunday, their YouTube channel has been uploading popular performances from the past under the title ‘Theatre in my Hand’.

In addition, Seoul has been preparing a variety of cultural programs that include a classical performance. Also, a selection of musicals, plays, dances, and Korean music prepared at the Sejong Center for Performing Arts. As the Coronavirus has increased the time we spend at home, look for an online culture and art program that suits your taste. The diverse programs available at your fingertips will create a time of excitement at the comfort of your home.

온라인으로 즐기는 서울문화프로그램

서울시는 박물관 전시부터 공연까지 집에서 문화생활을 즐길 수 있도록 온라인 프로그램을 마련해 시민들의 무료함을 달래고 있다.

코로나19가 장기화되면서 문화, 예술계에는 새로운 바람이 불고 있는데 바로 VR 동영상을 이용한 박물관 및 전시 관람이다.

한성백제박물관에서는 그동안 진행했던 특별전을 VR로 소개하고 있다.

한성백제박물관 (https://baekjemuseum.seoul.go.kr/)에는 ‘백제의 산성전’, 경주 월성의 주요 유물을 소개하는 ‘한성에서 만나는 신라 월성전’, 산둥시 소장 유물과 한성백제박물관 소장 전시품을 감상할 수 있는 ‘한중교류의 관문, 산동/동아시아 실크로드 이야기전’ 등 30여 개의 체험 전시가 마련되어 있다.

서울시립미술관(https://www.youtube.com/user/SeoulMuseumofArt/)은 SNS채널을 통해 시민들의 질문을 받아 큐레이터가 미술관에 대한 궁금증을 해소해 주는 영상과 다채로운 콘텐츠로 관람객들과 소통 중이다. 또한, 미술관 소장품을 소개하거나 교육 프로그램을 진행하는 등 SNS 생중계와 각종 게시물을 통해 온라인 관람 기회를 제공하고 있다.

근/현대 100년의 역사를 담은 돈의문박물관마을(https://www.youtube.com/channel/ UCG8nU9cz8Z1tYC3DP8Qvd5g)은 마을 내 여러 전시실을 투어하며 소개하는 도슨트 영상을 순차적으로 게재 중이다. 서울의 옛 모습을 간직한 ‘돈의문구락부’, ‘콤퓨타게임장’, ‘새문안만화방’, ‘삼거리이용원, 1960년대 가정집의 모습을 재현한 공간 등 돈의문박물관마을의 다양한 공간 구석구석을 유쾌하게 소개한다.

서울역사박물관(https://museum.seoul.go.kr/)의 ‘서울의 전차’ 전시에서는 우리나라 최초의 전차를 볼 수 있다. 근대부터 70년대 운행 종료까지 서울 전차의 모습들을 볼 수 있는 기회로 전차를 타본 세대가 아닌 만큼 흥미로운 전시이다.

코로나19 여파로 ‘사회적 거리두기’가 강화되며 공연 취소로 피해를 입은 공연예술계를 지원하기 위해 특별히 기획된 프로그램이 있다.

세종문화회관(https://www.youtube.com/user/sejongpac/) 의 무관중 온라인 공연 ‘힘내라 콘서트’도 그 중 하나이다. 매주 토/일요일, 유튜브 채널을 통해 지난 우수 기획 공연을 다시 볼 수 있는 ‘내 손안에 극장’도 운영한다.

이 밖에 서울시는 서울시향의 클래식 연주와 더불어 세종문화회관에서 준비한 뮤지컬과 연극, 무용과 국악까지 골라서 볼 수 있는 다양한 문화 프로그램을 준비하고 있다. 코로나19로 집안에 머무는 시간이 길어져 일상에 건조함이 차오른다면 취향에 맞는 온라인 문화예술 프로그램을 찾아보자. 당신을 위해 준비된 다채로운 프로그램들은 때로는 신나고 따뜻한 위로의 시간을 만들어 줄 것이다.
