Going through Vibrio Cholerae

Vibrio Cholerae is a caustic bacterium that causes cholera very highly toxic and athletic. Most of them live in areas where rivers and seas meet each other, and infection occurs when water facilities drink contaminated water from undeveloped areas. It is a common anaerobic bacterium that has one flagellum and pili. It produces cholera toxin, which is pathogenic, and it extends the small intestine’s microfusion. If it is not treated early, after an incubation period of two to three days, symptoms such as diarrhea, muscle cramps, and vomiting can lead to death due to dehydration or circulation failure.

In the 19th century, in Korea, Cholera was one of the most feared infectious diseases and approximately 50 percent of the whole population were killed by this fatal disease. Also in Yemen, Cholera was endemic with frequent outbreaks from time to time. However, the difference between Yemen and South Korea was the government, environment issue, and the medical system. Yemen is suffering from the civil war, therefore the majority of the citizens are having a hard time. Lots of lands are already contaminated with polluted water. As a result, they have a lack of medical care, furthermore, they will have much less ability to generate vaccines. On the other hand, South Korea that is much more developed in medical care welcomed the first oral cholera vaccine Euvichol. South Korea has a high quality of medical care services and the organization. Therefore, Korea had the product that put 5 years of effort from the EuBiologics and Seoul-based International Vaccine Institute. This leads to the prequalification of the World Health Organization, which means that the vaccine, ‘Euvichol’ is sufficient as the standard quality, efficient and safe to use for the country to purchase, for example in UNICEF.

Moreover, Vibrio Cholerae made lots of people suffer from severe pain. It affects the digestive system by containing contaminated water or food that is cooked or washed with contaminated water that is transmitted through the body. Because the Vibrio Cholerae is toxic, it is much more acidic than the gastric juice which is in the stomach. Therefore, it passes the stomach and starts to attack the small intestine. Then, the toxin increases the movement of the enzyme and regulates the cellular pumping mechanism in the circulatory system and intestine between managing the activity of electrolytes and water. This causes the outflow of the liquids over 1 liter and loss of water and salts.

Besides, it has various kinds of symptoms which gives severe pain to the patient, such as low blood pressure, vomiting, dehydration, muscular cramp, and diarrhea. To prevent these bacteria from invading into the body, people should wash their hands frequently, use clean water supplies for their nutrients, or boil the water before drinking it. It can also be treated by using antibiotics for cholera which is used worldwide.
