Nowadays, our environment on Earth is significantly changing. Massive natural disasters, different weather patterns, and severe global warming is threatening us to death of the ecosystem. People now need to be aware of the problems happening on our planet. Our planet’s temperature is constantly rising and people are the cause of it. People can improve the environment by various ways such as using environmentally friendly clothing. Sustainable fashion is clothing, shoes, and accessories manufactured and used in the most sustainable manner possible by considering both socio-economic and environmental aspects.

Most of the clothes are cheaply made in factories and intended for short-term use, which is called a “fast fashion”. However, sustainable fashion using the eco-friendly method and also ethical while manufacturing the clothes are referred to as “slow fashion”. Some brands are now tracking how much water they are using and cutting back on the amount of water they use. While dying the clothes, this process produces some hazardous chemicals which will consequently become the waste product for the community water source. Therefore, now the fashion brand is coming up with some new methods such as using natural dying products.

Moreover, the slow fashion, which produces fewer new items and environmentally friendly clothes, has the biggest goal for sustainable fashion is to wear clothes longer and to buy fewer products. The product should also produce fewer wastes. Some natural fibres such as cotton are sometimes grown by using pesticides and treatments. This is significantly harmful to the workers, farmers, and wildlife. Therefore, there are other options for the producers to use with less water than conventional growing methods: organic cotton, other fibres available, linen.

Some companies have also started the contribution to have more sustainable fashion. They changed their distribution, production, strategies, and marketing practices to increase their sustainability. One of the Swedish fashion brands carries out the rental system for accessories and clothes. Some companies such as H&M produced some high quality but timeless design. It also had the durability and long-lasting style. They designed the recycling system, supporting increased textile recycling.

More of the fashion companies are now increasingly applying the sustainable fashion method. As they use the eco-friendly method, our dangered planet will gradually become better, and once in the future, the Earth will be able to recover from the threats that humans give.
