Recently, the disclosure of Dr. Li-Meng Yan has been an issue. She argued that the current pandemic was purposely created by the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Moreover, on September 14th, she published the paper as evidence for her argument. Her paper garnered 400,000 downloads in a day, drawing attention from people around the world.

Her paper supported her claims with several shreds of evidence. There was evidence of a certain base sequence inserted in the center of the coronavirus gene, and similarities between the genome sequence of the bat coronavirus and the genomic sequence of the Sars virus-2 found in the Zhejiang province of China. Her argument also adds credibility from the fact that the Wuhan Institute of Virology has the world's largest number of virus samples, that there was a command to dispose of virus samples just before the pandemic in Wuhan Institute of Virology, and that there are few habitats for bats in Wuhan.

Even before the revelation of Dr. Li-Meng Yan, some people raised suspicions for China’s manipulation of the COVID-19 virus. In particular, Lindsey Graham and President Donald Trump argued China's manipulation of the Coronavirus for a long time. However, unlike with the expectations, her paper was receiving neglective feedback. Several scientists who perused Dr. Li-Meng Yan’s paper revealed several loopholes in her thesis and rationale.
Given that the possibility of naturally occurring specific base sequence insertion, many scientists conclude that her argument is not reliable. Besides, it says that with the current technology of mankind, it is difficult to manufacture a "well-infecting" virus.

Facebook and Twitter are currently in the process of removing her account, perceiving it as a spread of falsehood, and Dr. Li-Meng Yan is in seclusion to the United States.

코로나 바이러스 음모론

최근, 전 홍콩대 출신의 생명과학자 옌리멍 박사의 폭로가 인터넷을 뜨겁게 달구고 있다.
옌리멍 박사는 올해 초부터 전세계를 대재앙으로 몰아넣은 신종 코로나 바이러스가 중국 우한바이러스 연구소에서 인위적으로 만들어졌다고 주장했다. 그리고 그녀는 14일에 3명의 동료들과 함께 그녀의 주장을 뒷받침하는 논문을 모 인터넷 사이트에 제기했다. 옌리멍 박사와 그 동료들이 제기한 논문은 하루 만에 40만 다운로드를 기록하며, 전세계 사람들의 이목을 집중시켰다.

논문에는 코로나 바이러스의 돌기 단백질 유전자의 중앙부에 특정 염기서열을 삽입한 듯한 흔적이 있고 중국 저장성 저우산 지역에서 발견된 박쥐 코로나 바이러스의 게놈 염기서열과 사스코로나바이러스-2의 게놈염기서열이 비슷하다는 점 등 옌리멍 박사의 주장을 뒷받침 하는 근거들이 제시되었다. 또한 우한바이러스 연구소가 세계  최다 바이러스 샘플을 보유하고 있다는 점, 코로나 바이러스가 대유행 되기 전 우한바이러스연구소에 샘플 폐기 명령이 떨어졌다는 점과 코로나 발병지인 우한에는 박쥐가 거의 서식하지 않는다는 점이 그녀의 주장에 신빙성을 더하고 있다.

옌리멍 박사의 폭로가 있기 전에도 중국의 신종코로나 바이러스 조작 의혹을 제기했던 사람들이 있었다. 특히 도널드 트럼프 현직 미 대통령, 무역제조업 정책국장, 상원의원인 린지 그레이엄은 오랜기간 중국의 코로나 바이러스 조작설을 주장했다.
그러나 예상과는 달리 옌리멍 박사의 논문에 대한 여론은 차가운 반응을 보이고 있다. 옌리멍 박사의 논문을 접한 여러 과학자들은 그녀의 논문과 근거에 여러 허점이 있음을 밝혔다. 옌리멍 박사가 근거로 들었던 특정 염기서열 삽입의 흔적은 자연적으로도 충분히 형성될 수 있다는 점에서 그녀의 주장이 설득력이 없다고 판단되고 있다. 더불어 현재 인류가 가진 과학기술로는 ‘감염이 잘 되는' 바이러스의 제조가 어렵다고 한다.

현재 페이스북과 트위터는 그녀의 주장을 허위사실 유포로 판단, 그녀의 계정을 차단하는 등의 조치를 취하고 있으며 옌리멍 박사는 미국에서 은둔한 상태이다.
