Lebron James, arguably one of the greatest basketball players of all time, entered his seventeenth nba season this year accomplishing the feat of going to his tenth nba final. After joining the Los Angeles Lakers in 2018, Lebron James failed to continue his ninth consecutive season in the Nba Finals after his consecutive eight year run from 2011 to 2018. This brought a lot of backlash on the Nba superstar as he was considered to be one of the greatest Nba players of all time, and was expected to deliver his new team to the Nba finals.

But in the new 2019-2020 season, the Los Angeles Laker acquired another superstar from the New Orleans Pelicans, Anthony Davis. This trade was established after the Los Angeles Lakers traded Josh Hart, Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, and multiple future first round picks for the 6’10’’ all star. The team started off being the first seed in the Western Conference and all seemed well before an unexpected tragedy struck the league.

In March 12, 2020, the NBA announced that the season would be held off due to the new corona pandemic in order to protect its players and fans from the virus. The situation looked dark for the Lakers. After having the best season in the western conference, the league shutting down could mean that the season itself could be disregarded. The pandemic also seemed like it would not be getting better as in New York, the number of cases exceeded the 10,000 mark on April 9.
But the NBA came up with a new solution. The league announced that the NBA postseason would continue on July 30, inside the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. And in order to ensure the safety of the players, the audience would be limited to those invited by the players, or officials, and the rest would be broadcasted online.

With this second chance that allowed the Lakers to continue on their season with their new star player, the victories came smoothly. By beating the Trail Blazers 4-1 in the first round, the Lakers continued to the second round to beat the Rockets 4-1 as well. And after beating the Nuggets in the third round by 4-1 as well, the Lakers continued on to the finals to face their final opponents, the Miami Heat.
With Tyler Hero, Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler as the star players, Miami fought back after losing the first two games. But the effort wasn’t enough and the goddess of victory took the hand of the Lakers franchise. With the final score of 4-2, the Lakers established themselves as the 2019-2020 season champions and Lebron James acquired his fourth ring of his career. Just two away from Michael Jordan, often credited to be the greatest basketball player of all time. With the result of this year’s season, Laker fans are more than ever excited for the new upcoming 2020-2021 season with many hoping that the Lakers would complete a back to back championship run. Although Lebron has completed seventeen seasons in his career with him currently being 35, he is still going strong and is expected to compete for more finals in the years to come.
