With the spread of the new coronavirus becoming more serious, it is challenging in nursing homes and nursing homes with older people belonging to high-risk groups. It is true that even if contact with family members or outsiders is controlled, it is challenging to prevent contact with them due to the need for help from caregivers such as caregivers and caregivers.

In particular, events and simple classes held in nursing hospitals were the only time when senior citizens expressed themselves, talked to people, and revitalized their lives. Still, such activities were canceled altogether; adults especially need this caring staff.

Care robots currently using artificial intelligence such as Hyodori, toilet-assisted robots and wearable robots have been developed. The most well-known technology now is 'Hyodori.' Hyodori can act cute in the shape of a young baby that can reminisce about their grandchildren or their children's childhood and tell them when to take meals or medicine. Besides, Hyodori is considered to be able to prevent depression and dementia among the elderly because it also can exercise or sing. However, it is still regrettable that it has not fully developed enough to communicate with the elderly.

There are some differences because each product has a few different technologies. Still, the burden of helping with bowel movements will be reduced by direct care personnel, reducing the work burden.

Lastly, wearable robots can quickly think of Iron Man's suit, Marvel movies' main character. This robot is close to the body and helps the elderly sense the body signals and move independently, reducing the burden that caregivers should help everyone.

However, while the robots are still developing and developing, the biggest problem seems to be how to harmonize human power and robot technology. There are opinions that robots will not be able to help people-to-people loneliness or helpfully.

어떻게 고령층 노인들을 도울 수 있을까?

신종 코로나바이러스의 확산이 점점 더 심각해지는 이 상황에서, 특히 고위험군에 속하는 고령층 노인분들이 있는 요양원이나 요양병원에서는 큰 어려움을 겪고 있다. 가족이나 외부인들과의 접촉을 통제시키더라도 요양보호사나 간병인 같은 돌보미들의 도움이 필요하므로 그 분들과의 접촉까지는 통제하기가 힘든 것이 사실이다.

특히, 요양병원 내에서 진행되는 행사나 간단한 수업 등이 유일하게 노인들이 자신들을 표현하고 사람들과 접촉하면서 대화하고 삶에 생기를 불어 넣는 시간이었는데 코로나로 인해 그러한 활동들이 전면 취소되었기 때문에 이러한 돌봄인력이 더욱 절실히 필요한 상황이다.

현재, 효돌이, 배변보조 로봇, 웨어러블 로봇 등 여러 인공지능을 사용한 돌봄로봇들이 개발되고 있다. 이 중에서도 현재 제일 잘 알려진 기술은 ‘효돌이’다. 효돌이는 노인들이 자신들의 손주나 자녀들의 어릴 때를 회상할 수 있도록 어린 아기의 모양으로 애교를 부리기도 하고, 식사나 약 복용 시간을 알려주는 기능도 탑재하고 있다. 또한, 효돌이는 체조나 노래를 할 수 있는 기능도 탑재하고 있어 노인들의 우울증과 치매 발병을 예방할 수 있다고 평가받고 있지만 아직까지 완벽하게 노인들과 의사소통을 할 수 있을 정도의 발달은 아니기 때문에 아쉬운 점으로 꼽히고 있다.

배변보조 로봇은 제품마다 다 조금의 다른 기술들을 탑재하고 있어 약간의 차이가 나긴 하지만 직접 돌봄인력이 투입되어서 배변활동을 대면으로 해야 할 일을 로봇이 많은 부분 도와줌으로 실제 업무 부담을 줄여줄 수 있다.

마지막으로, 웨어러블 로봇은 쉽게 생각하면 마블영화의 주요 인물인 아이언맨의 수트를 떠올리면 된다. 이 로봇은 신체와 밀착되어 노인들의 신체 신호를 감지하여 스스로 움직일 수 있도록 도움을 줌으로 돌봄인력이 일일이 힘을 써서 도와야 하는 부담을 줄여준다.

아직 이 로봇들이 개발과 발전 중에 있어서 돌봄인력들이 노인들을 사람 대 사람으로 메꿔주는 외로움이나 도움을 완전히 인간을 대신하여 로봇들이 도울 수는 없을 거라는 의견이 있기에 사람의 힘과 로봇의 기술을 어떻게 잘 조화시킬지가 제일 큰 문제라고 보인다.
