As the new year of 2021 is approaching, the Korean population has become relaxed with COVID-19 policies due to their excitement for the upcoming holidays. Korea is in its third major wave of the virus, with the first wave hitting in March and the second wave hitting in August. The pattern of the graph shows that the durational length of the wave is decreasing. This makes the future circumstances seem negative, as it is assumed that a similar form of the wave will appear again, according to the graph.

In fact, the statistical pattern of 3 waves seems to match the US' patterns. The graph clearly indicates that the 3 waves occurred in April, August and November respectively. Although the month of the first wave is different (with Korea's taking place in March and the US' taking place in April), the US' peak of the pandemic was delayed by only 1 month, meaning that the pattern of 3 waves in both the US and South Korea corresponds to one another.

However, when observing the COVID-19 cases for the 9 most-affected countries (Brazil, India, Turkey, Italy, Russia, Germany, United Kingdom, Poland and Ukraine), the graph shows that each of these countries experienced only 1 or 2 waves each. This indicates that Korea and the US were the only countries that had a total of 3 waves.

The takeaway from the analysis of this data is the need for global cooperation. It is evident that the US and Korea have already faced 3 waves and this suggests the possibility of other countries moving toward another wave. To prevent any negative future situations, it is imperative that the US and Korea share their previous data and discuss plans for preventing the next wave in other countries. Global cooperation and diplomacy are important during the hardship of the pandemic.
