HiFive is a charity ensemble group at Korea International School. Consisting of Eric Moon (violinist, 11), Seungheon Choo (violinist, 11), Ethan Lee (violinist, 10), Ian Kim (violist, 11), and Hannah Choi (cellist, 11). HiFive strives to provide everyone the chance to relive the energy of concerts from before the pandemic.

We, five non-music majors, came together because of the strong love for music and the desire to spread the joy that we find in music to as many listeners as possible.
Unfortunately, with government mandates becoming stricter by the moment and concerts no longer being a viable option, people are finding fewer opportunities to relish music. To change this, we decided to take advantage of our musical talents. We decided to give our audience a relieving break from the stress of the virus to sit back and appreciate music.

Last Christmas, we released our first performance videos online. These recordings encompassed a wide variety of music from classic holiday songs to modern children's songs.

This virtual performance was very meaningful because we directly sent the videos to seven preschools, three welfare centers for the disabled, and two senior homes. Several of these centers reached back to us in gratitude with pictures of them enjoying the music. Our videos quickly reached up to hundreds of views. We were shocked to see the views go up so quickly? we later found out that not just the charity organizations but also our family members had streamed the videos over and over because they were so thrilled to watch our performances. Watching the videos had been the perfect way for them to see our faces for the first time in a long while and curb their loneliness from constant isolation.

As we see it, all this appreciation is a perfect reflection of how as of this moment, and for months to come, the digital connection is more vital than ever. HiFive is pushing forward to enable anyone, as soon as they click on our page, to feel this emotional connection not just with us, but also with the rest of the audience, forming a tight community bound by musical passion.
