The ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine has led to at least 200 fatalities and over 1400 hurt. On May 10, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad issued their final demand to Israel to remove their forces from the al-Aqsa mosque. The following night, Hamas launched its first rockets to Israel. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) responded by launching its airstrikes on several targets in the Gaza strip. On May 11, the Israel air force bombed the Gaza tower block, resulting in 24 casualties, including nine children. Hamas responded by sending rockets towards Tel Aviv, a primarily liberal coastal city of Israel.

On May 12, the coalition talks fail. Over 850 rockets are fired overnight from Gaza to Israel as many countries start sending diplomatic envoys to ease the situation. The missiles strike and kill five Israelis, and at least 200 rockets fell within the boundaries of Gaza itself. Meanwhile, the coalition negotiations between two rivals of Benjamin Netanyahu fell apart due to the flare-up of violence. On May 13, Israel intensified its attack by mobilizing 9000 reserve forces along the Gaza border. Israel launched its attacks from ground and air on Gaza, claiming that it had targeted the Hamas military intelligence building.

On May 16, the IDF reported that 40 rockets had been fired from Gaza towards Ashkelon. The leader of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, denounced the violence and appealed for peace. Rocket attacks continued, hitting targets in Ashkelon, Ramat Gan, and others.

This ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine has caused serious international concerns, and the whole world is hoping for this crisis to end.

이스라엘-팔레스타인 분쟁

최근 대두되고 있는 이스라엘과 팔레스타인 사이의 분쟁은 200명 이상의 사망자들과 1400 이상의 부상자들을 배출했다. 5월 10일, Hamas와 Palestinian Islamic Jihad는 이스라엘에게 알 아크사 모스크에서 병력을 철회하라는 최후의 제안을 내세웠다. 그 날 밤, Hamas는 이스라엘에 첫 미사일들을 발포했다. 이스라엘 방어 협회는 Gaza strip의 몇몇 표적들에게 미사일을 발포하는 것으로 대응했다. 5월 11일, 이스라엘 공군은 Gaza tower 단지를 폭격했고, 이 사건은 9명의 어린이들을 포함한 24명의 사상자를 배출했다. Hamas는 이스라엘의 가장 자유민주적인 해변도시인 Tel Aviv에 미사일을 발포하는 것으로 대응했다.

5월 12일경, 연합 회담은 실패로 돌아갔다. Gaza에서 이스라엘까지 하룻밤 사이에 850개가 넘는 미사일들이 발포되며 주위 국가들 에서는 이 상황을 완화시키기 위해 외교 대사들을 파견하기 시작했다. 발포된 미사일들은 5명의 이스라엘 사상자들을 만들었으며 최소 200개의 미사일들은 Gaza의 변두리에 떨어졌다. 그 동안, Benjamin Netanyahu의 두 라이벌 사이의 연합 회담은 갑작스럽게 벌어진 폭력 분쟁으로 인해 와해되었다. 5월 13일, 이스라엘은 Gaza에 대한 공격을 Gaza의 국경선에 9000사단의 예비병력을 배치하는 것으로 격상시켰다. 이스라엘은 Hamas의 군사 정보 기관을 목표로 삼는다고 밝히면서 육상 그리고 공군 공격을 개시했다.

5월 16일, IDF는 Gaza에서 40여개의 미사일들이 Ashkelon을 향해 발포되었다. 이에 가톨릭 교회의 수장인 프랜시스 교황은 폭력을 삼가고 평화를 추구하고자 하는 태도를 보였다. 하지만, 미사일 공격들은 멈추지 않았으며 Ashkelon, Ramat Gan 등의 지역들을 공격했다.

이스라엘과 팔레스타인의 지속되는 분쟁은 국제적 정세에 심각한 혼란을 불러왔고, 전 세계는 지금 이 분쟁이 끝나길 기도하고 있다.
