Climate Changes and Current Economic Trends - Carbon Neutrality
±èÇϹΠ°³²Æ÷½ºÆ® Çлý±âÀÚ | ½ÂÀÎ 2021.07.26 20:56

As the term "global warming" became more diversified, it changed to "climate change" and recently developed into "climate crisis" and even "climate emergency." Specifically, the average temperature of the earth has always been increasing, but it is increasing at a much faster rate these days. For this reason, many countries have encountered abnormal climate changes, and the social and economic damage to it has become uncountable. The spread of Wildfires in Australia and a swarm of Chinese desert grasshoppers, heatwaves, and droughts are caused by abnormal climate changes. What led to the prosperity of human civilization was human economic activity after the Industrial Revolution, but the activity caused climate change, but now it brings serious problems for our economy again.

The most significant impact on climate change is carbon emissions. Carbon emission is bound to be a common problem for humankind as it has no boundaries and it causes environmental problems in any part of the world. To reduce carbon emissions, the international community is pushing for a carbon-neutral policy that individuals, companies, or organizations take measures to absorb carbon dioxide as much as they emit it, making zero. The campaign works, and it is becoming an industry trend these days for many countries, companies, and organizations to develop carbon-neutral rather than indiscriminate development.

Each class of people tries to achieve carbon neutrality. First, many countries impose a carbon tax. The carbon tax is a policy that requires people to pay taxes based on the number of carbon emissions that people produce. Indeed, many developed countries, including Finland, Sweden, and New Zealand, impose carbon taxes to reduce carbon dioxide and achieve carbon neutrality.

Secondly, enterprises contribute to carbon neutrality by participating in campaigns such as RE100. RE100 is a campaign for power-consuming companies to convert 100 percent of their electricity usage into renewable energy by 2050. Many renowned companies, including Apple, Google, and Sony, participated in the campaign, which shows that carbon neutrality and climate issues are economic trends.

Thirdly, individuals, each person attempts to achieve carbon neutrality by adhering to low carbon living practices. Individuals reduce the amount of carbon through sample methods, such as walking, cycling, and public transportation.
