Ocean Crises Being Overcome by Two Persistent Men

Every year, the amount of trash that poisons the oceans is expected to almost triple by 2040 to 29 million metric tons. Without the ocean, all living beings on Earth will not be able to survive. If we don't do something about the ocean's pollution, our time on this planet is limited. However, some people are trying to solve this colossal problem.

Jimmy Donaldson and Mark Rober have recently started a worldwide collaborative fundraiser project called TeamSeas. Jimmy Donaldson is a popular YouTuber and philanthropist called MrBeast, and Mark Rober is an engineer who formerly worked at NASA. Their goal is to raise 30 million dollars to remove 30 million pounds of pollution from the ocean. For every dollar a person donates, one pound of trash will be removed from the sea. TeamSeas has joined forces with Ocean Conservancy and Ocean Cleanup, who will split the funds that are raised by this project. MrBeast released a video on his YouTube channel to introduce this project to the public on October 9, 2021. The campaign was released through various social media platforms on October 29, 2021. The goal is to raise the money by January 2, 2022.

According to The Infographics Show, the amount of trash that TeamSeas is going to remove from the ocean is equivalent to 90 adult blue whales. By removing that much waste, animals will have fewer chances to eat or get caught in plastic. Consequently, over 40 different animals, such as sea turtles and dolphins, die from eating or getting caught in plastic. Not only will removing 30 million pounds of trash create a better habitat for marine animals, but it is also beneficial to create clean oxygen as well. With a large amount of trash gone from the ocean, the microscopic phytoplankton will have an easier time absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen back into the atmosphere by using photosynthesis. The microplastics in the sea get consumed by the plankton, which is eaten by other sea animals such as fish, and then those fish are eaten by other sea creatures or us. Plastic is not a good source of food for sea creatures because although it will be inside their stomachs, it will make them think that they are not hungry, but they are, which causes them to starve to death ironically.

This noble campaign will be highly beneficial to the Earth. Hopefully, this project will motivate people worldwide to clean the world's waters from pollution or donate to the fundraising campaign. This initiative will not only benefit the human race geologically, but it will also benefit human beings socially. This project is an excellent opportunity for many people from different backgrounds to gather together and work together for a common cause. The world can become a much cleaner place with less trash, and people also have the chance to change through this collaboration. In a world filled with fear and doubt, two brave knights are changing the world one piece of trash at a time.
