TeamSeas Makes a Splash!

As the final moments of 2021 came to an end, many people wondered if Jimmy Donaldson, also known as MrBeast on social media, and Mark B. Rober, an inventor and former worker at NASA, would reach their ambitious goal of raising 30 million dollars by removing 30 million pounds of trash from the ocean. When the TeamSeas project was first announced, it started strong with more than 15 million dollars donated in less than a month.

However, as time passed, the charity’s money-making progress slowed down. Many doubters uploaded videos saying that TeamSeas would not reach their goal on time and their project would fail. However, there were still those who did not give up on this charity. People began to donate more money in the last few weeks, and the campaign’s progress began accelerating. With only a few hours left before the deadline, TeamSeas started getting closer to their goal with about 4 million dollars left to be donated. People desperately posted on social media begging others to donate so that TeamSeas could reach its goal.

Suddenly, an anonymous man donated 4 million dollars out of the shadows, and TeamSeas finally reached their goal. This selfless soul was named Austin Russell, an American entrepreneur who also happens to be the youngest billionaire in the world (Forbes). He shocked the media when he donated this ridiculous amount of money to TeamSeas. People on social media began writing compliments online about him, saying that he was a guardian angel and the noblest of the noble.

However, a person doesn’t need a million dollars to make a difference. As a student, I was able to donate to this charity, and I know that no matter how big or small a donation is, every single one counts. I am highly thankful for people like Austin Russell, who are generous enough to donate such large amounts of money. Furthermore, the world should be grateful to MrBeast and Mark Rober, who orchestrated this fundraising project. With the new year upon us, this is a significant first step in making our planet cleaner, one pound of trash at a time.
