Semiconductor (SCD)" is one of the most important terms in 2021 and 2022. Even though SCDs are utilized in practically every electronic gadget, consumers did not appear to be interested in this essential component of their daily lives. However, while COVID was at its peak, that perception shifted, and it continues to do so now, as partners such as Samsung take aggressive strides toward mass manufacture of SCDs. Samsung Electronics has announced a $17 billion investment in the construction of a fab in Taylor, Texas. With a $27 million grant from the state of Texas, this fab is intended to create more than 2000 jobs and help solve the scarcity of SCDs. Larger tax cuts and incentives are expected for the facility.
The amount of money invested in this endeavor astounded the entire world. "This is the largest foreign direct investment in the history of Texas," said state governor Greg Abbott. We can assume that Samsung is making a move to maintain its market dominance. 
Many others, on the other hand, are attempting to catch up to Samsung. Intel just announced a $20 billion investment in the state of Ohio to develop two fabs. As the company grows, they intend to expand their workforce. It is expected to be the largest facility ever built if the overall idea succeeds. This effort aims to produce SCDs made in the United States.
The race to secure SCD supremacy has already begun, as depicted above. This race will only become more competitive as society demands more superior technology.

반도체의 시장 영향

2021년과 2022년에 가장 강조된 용어 중 하나는 "반도체(SCD)"이다. SCD는 거의 모든 전자 장치에 사용되지만 사람들은 일상 생활의 핵심 부분에 관심이 없었다. 하지만 코로나19가 정점에 이르렀을 때 이러한 관점이 바뀌었고, 삼성 등 동반자가 SCD 양산을 향한 과감한 발걸음을 내딛었기 때문에 반도체를 향한 관심이 오늘날까지 이어지고 있다. 삼성전자는 텍사스 테일러에 첨단 반도체 생산 시설인 팹 건설에 170억 달러를 투자한다고 밝혔다. 이 팹은 텍사스 주에서 2700만 달러의 보조금으로 2000개 이상의 일자리를 창출할 것으로 예상되며 SCD 부족을 해결하는 데 도움이 될 것으로 예상된다. 시설에 대한 더 큰 세금 감면 및 인센티브가 예상된다.

이 프로젝트에 투입된 금액은 세계를 놀라게 했다. Greg Abbott 주지사는 "이것은 텍사스주에서 가장 큰 외국인 직접 투자"라고 말했다. 삼성이 이 반도체 시장에서 지배력을 확보하기 위해 움직이고 있다고 추측할 수 있다.

하지만 삼성의 꼬리를 잡으려는 이들도 많다. 인텔은 최근 오하이오 주에 2개의 팹을 건설하기 위해 200억 달러를 투자한다고 발표했다. 그들의 계획은 회사가 성장함에 따라 지속적으로 규모를 늘리는 것이다. 전체 계획이 성공하면 역대 최대 규모의 시설이 될 전망이다. 이 투자는 미국 회사에서 만든 SCD를 만들고 확보하는 것이다.

위와 같이 SCD 지배력을 확보하기 위한 경쟁이 이미 시작되었다. 사회가 더 진보된 기술을 요구함에 따라 이 경쟁은 이전보다 더 치열해질 것이다.
