Warriors and White Blood Cells: our Bodies’ Internal Defense Force

Awoken by the deafening thunders of explosions, Ukrainians have been under the jeopardizing strike by Russian forces. This sudden and short-notice ambush has left Ukraine in a devastated and chaotic state. To prepare for and protect the body against such abrupt attacks, our bodies create their defense forces ?? white blood cells.

As if invaders firing into a tranquil country, foreign pathogens enter the body and begin attacking healthy cells. This is when white blood cells, the soldiers, rush in to destroy the harmful substance. They enter the bloodstream, migrate to the site of the raid, complete their functions, and finally clean up the aftermath, all in the lapse of one day.

There are two types of warriors in the fightback: neutrophils and lymphocytes. The type of white blood cells required to address the issue varies depending on the type of invader. When it comes to bacterial or fungal infections, neutrophils capture and destroy the pathogens; when it comes to viruses, lymphocytes make specialized antibodies that attach to and kill the antigens. Following the immunological reaction, macrophages, a kind of white blood cell, operate as cleaners, cleaning up the battlefield's waste.

As a result, a dearth of white blood cells raises the body's risk of infection, making it more vulnerable to illnesses like cancer, which are typically fatal. Without enough white blood cells, minor microbial infections can quickly escalate into life-threatening inflammations. So, how do we go about building and maintaining a robust military?

Vitamin B6, or pyridoxine, is crucial for the production of white blood cells lymphocytes, according to K-L Lin of Chung Shan Medical University Hospital, and proper levels of blood pyridoxine concentration have been associated with a lower risk of cancer and other disorders. While research on individual B6 supplements has been inconsistent and is not advised, the vitamin has shown promise advantages when used in combination with other vitamins through traditional multivitamin pills or gummies. Expanding your animal and plant diet is a natural approach to enhancing your Vitamin B6 consumption; the highest sources of B6 are tuna and salmon, as well as dark leafy greens like kale and spinach.

So, before your body turns into a battleground, arm yourself with an impregnable defensive force by giving your white blood cells Vitamin B6 regularly. It's always better to be safe than sorry.
