The Importance of 'One Health’A Series of Medical Articles: #5
이서현 강남포스트 학생기자 | 승인 2022.04.18 21:21

Humans have made significant progress in their understanding of science and technology over time. This advancement, however, comes at a cost, since their excessive carbon emissions cause climate change and the spread of pandemics like the Covid-19 pandemic. As a result of this, the current generation is beginning to understand the significance of the notion of "one health." As a result, effective solutions that contribute to 'one health' must be established, as global warming and the development of the Covid-19 pandemic pose a threat to the safety of all creatures.

First, the pressing challenges of global warming and climate change have spawned a slew of solutions that allow nations to work together in the name of 'one health.' The United Nations attempted to resolve the issue of climate change by recognizing the importance of international cooperation and creating the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which "[played] a pivotal role in building the scientific consensus, raising the issue to the front pages of the world's media, and putting it in the in-tray of Heads of State and Government, as well as chief executive officers of businesses and industries." Furthermore, "the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has launched a scheme that has delivered solar electricity to 100,000 people in India," reducing the need of fossil fuels. As seen, when people work together to implement feasible solutions to this significant problem, they are allowing the world to finally breathe and support the lives of its wonderful species.

People are the ones who are responsible for such crimes since they highlight the effects of global warming that jeopardize the lives of millions. Though many people are still enthralled by the wonders of scientific and technical progress while oblivious to the incalculable losses, they must be grateful that there is yet time before all life on our planet perishes. As a result, we must focus our attention on environmental concerns and make efforts to reduce carbon emissions to limit the rate of global warming. Anyone with the desire to rescue the earth may help begin by walking modest distances and burning calories rather than fossil fuels. If we cannot deter the rapid progression of the melting ice sheets, we may soon face an even more serious natural disaster on the heated planet.
