Covid-19 still Troubling Tesla
김승재 강남포스트 학생기자 | 승인 2022.04.26 20:44

COVID-19 has affected economies all around the world, reducing the number of products sold and even suspending factories. Tesla is now one of the companies that became the victim of this permeating virus.

Ever since COVID-19 struck Shanghai, it has caused great trouble not only to the citizens but also to thriving companies such as Tesla. A factory called Gigafactory Tesla owned was shut down due to the scandalizing outbreak of the Coronavirus. It was initially going to be shut down for two days, but now the suspension continues even after two days have passed.

Since the Chinese Government began to take its quarantine protocol more seriously, cities across China have their people forced to stay in their homes while shutting down factories one by one. Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, told his employees that even after Gigafactory 3 is able to work again, they must follow the restrictions during work. He also told them to stay in their homes while listening to his orders.

People who have invested in Tesla are now receiving less money than they usually do. As an investor of Tesla, I was concerned to hear that Elon had a setback in his business. It clearly shows that even the most outstanding companies like Tesla can experience many unexpected incidents that seriously affect their business.

However, one of the greatest strengths Tesla has is its DNA to survive and overcome all the hurdles. At the beginning of its business, being on the point of bankruptcy, now Tesla became the most valuable automotive company, with $53.8 billion in revenue last year. Despite other hurdles like supply chain challenges and shortage of chips, Tesla delivered 936,172 vehicles to its customers, which means an 87% increase in vehicle delivery compared to 2020.

The year 2022 will be the most challenging year for Elon. However, I am still excited to see his magic to flourish Tesla again with his own unconventional but effective and innovative strategies.
