Climate change refers to a change in global temperatures and weather patterns. These changes are mainly from human activities, such as using more fossil fuels that release huge amounts of atmospheric carbon dioxide. Due to climate change, sea levels are rising and the oceans are becoming warmer. There are more intense droughts, storms, heatwaves, and more melting of the glaciers. As climate change gets worse, these consequences happen more often and become more severe and dangerous. These not only affect human lives and health, but it also directly harms animals and the habitats they live in. But can climate change also affect our mental health? 

Many research supports that mental health is affected in numerous ways by climate change, which can either be impacted before or after an extreme event happens. The impacts range from receiving stress, anxiety, depression, and sleeping disorders, to having post-traumatic disorder (PTSD) and even having suicidal thoughts. 

People sometimes suffer from major mental health implications after being exposed to natural catastrophes induced by climate change. For example, if someone loses someone, property, resources, or something significant in their lives, they are more likely to suffer from more severe mental health effects. As a result, individuals must become more concerned about environmental protection and the issue of climate change. Climate change's impacts are becoming more severe, affecting more aspects of human life and even people's mental health.
