Technology is taking over society more and more. Simply checking social media or writing a paper is what people do on their phones and computers. In 2018, there were 8.2 gadgets and connections per person in North America. But as the use of technology in the workplace increases, it is essential to understand how to protect your gadgets from hackers.
Hackers are capable of carrying out a wide variety of assaults, from password theft to the extreme "ransomware" program that locks down a computer until a ransom is paid. Fortunately, most threats can be stopped by using sound cybersecurity practices.
Setting a strong password is still one of the greatest ways to prevent hacking, first and foremost. These passwords continue to be in the top 10 most popular passwords because so many people still use them because they are easy to remember. Examples of such passwords are "123456," "qwerty," and "password." Your password should have a specific length and contain a combination of alphabetical, numeric, and special characters.

Additionally, it is equally important to avoid using the same password on different websites. It is advised to utilize reputable password managers, a tool that records all of your passwords and produces strong randomized passwords. Currently, a trustworthy password manager is already included in Google and iOS.
Not blindly believing anybody, especially on the internet, is another aspect of developing strong cybersecurity habits. There are a few ways to confirm and trust someone's information while communicating with them online. Since many fraudulent websites ask for your ID and password and seem just like authentic ones, it is crucial to verify that the link is legitimate. Additionally, it is advised to see if the website's address begins with "https," which denotes that the website manages data in a safe encrypted manner.
Finally, using a firewall and antivirus software is a good habit to keep your computer safe. Windows has a reliable firewall and antivirus software which are already built-in. Running antivirus software occasionally can spot any malware and prevent them from harming your computer.
