According to the United Nations (UN), there are about 101.1 million single mothers in the world. The reasons of a woman becoming a single mother are either willingly through adoption or unwillingly, due to getting a divorce, breaking up, or experiencing domestic violence or rape. Women that became single mothers involuntarily face many problems living in society. 

It is common for single moms to have a difficult time balancing their working time and time devoted to taking care of their children. In fact, according to a Pew Survey, 59 percent of full-time working mothers say they don’t have enough leisure time, as the mothers are on their own in providing for all the financial needs of the children. A possible solution for this issue can be adjusting working hours and making it more flexible to accommodate more leisure times, or utilizing governmental services. 

The struggle of not being able to balance work and leisure time can also lead single mothers to experience emotional challenges, making them feel more lonely or sad than usual. During these turbulent times, it is highly recommended for mothers to take some time on their own, or to do something that they enjoy. Taking part in fun active sports games with kids will also help them not think of any negative thoughts. 

Hopefully, with these challenges and possible solutions, single mothers in the world can raise their children in a better environment, where both parents and children are happy and satisfied with their lives.
