People live with different identities on the internet versus reality and some people get attention and focus through their identity on the internet. On the internet, people can be anything. With selected photographs, people create their own virtual identities that do not necessarily reflect the image of their reality. People “seem” they are wealthy on the internet because they conceal their daily life and show their happy pictures can be misunderstood by the audience.

By obscuring true identities online, more issues arise. This can lead to criminality since they are capable of doing bad things that they shouldn't have done. Adults should never harm children online, yet it does happen, and adults anonymously consume it. Internet crimes like sexual crimes, which people commit online because it is anonymous to others, and negative comments, which celebrities suffer from anonymously, can all be brought on by hiding one's real identity on the internet. Ripley syndrome, which involves denying one's real identity and gaining attention for one's fake identity, can also result from this. The need to reveal one's true identity online arises from occasionally threatening third parties.

If people consistently fake themselves online, they begin to lose sight of who they are. On the internet, they falsely represent themselves while blatantly stealing the identity of another user. Additionally, the individual who was the victim of identity theft from the other person would feel uneasy and dangerous. Many individuals adorn their feeds and social media accounts with images from the internet. The issue is that some people behave as though they are the owners of the image, which might result in copyright issues. The most sinister aspect of anonymous internet users is criminality, particularly child cybersex offenses. High social standing individuals who receive a great deal of attention and adoration frequently resort to online sex offenders. The anonymity of the internet provides more freedom of expression and the ability to express difficult topics, but it has many side effects.
