On 2022.8.11, there was a lot of rain in Korea. In Gyeonggi and Seoul, where 400mm of rain fell, they largely rained and caused damage. The protracted duration of the tight congestion front in the atmosphere is what is causing the heavy rain. It has a limited breadth from north to south and is lengthy from east to west, which causes a lot of rain to fall inside a small area. The previous day, rain clouds lingered over Gangnam, Seoul, and the southern part of Gyeonggi Province. Much more rain fell in this area of Seoul than in Gangbuk. The region of concentration of heavy rain may change significantly depending on which way the front is going. For the first time in 115 years, the heaviest rain struck South Korea.
Huge destructions were caused by the extreme flooding and ended in many disasters due to heavy rain. 9 people went missing after the first 11 people perished. Automobiles on the road were flooded and unable to move, thus waterlogged cars were strewn all over the road as up to 400 millimeters of water accumulated. Heavy rain also causes damage to residences on the ground as well as subterranean retail malls and other structures. The occupants in the businesses and homes remained up all night without moving while it rained nonstop, and everything was swept away. Due to the torrential rain, the river was inundated, and the vicinity of the river was severely damaged.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety prepared a few solution plans. Driving should be done at a slower speed, and cars shouldn't approach potentially hazardous regions like streams, rivers, and coasts where strong currents might carry them away. It is better to avoid near construction sites, streetlights, traffic lights, and utility poles and If water comes into the house, you should lower the short circuit breaker and unplug the home appliance with rubber gloves on.
