As the internet and smartphones developed throughout the 2000s, the new generations naturally lived with advanced digital materials and online platforms. Therefore, people who need to be more comfortable with these new technologies are increasingly interested in the new generation. This is a short guide to understanding the popular online platforms used by the younger generation daily.
First, they use social media every day. For example, Instagram and Twitter. Social media's primary purpose is to communicate with friends and other anonymous people. People can be friends by following each other's accounts and sharing their interests by uploading pictures and videos. Both Instagram and Twitter can send messages. On Instagram, you can upload your "story", which shows several photos and videos fast. On Twitter, there is a chart showing the most trending issue.
Second, there are some exciting platforms for watching videos such as YouTube, a social media platform used daily by hundreds of people around the world. Anyone can make an account and upload videos. The videos can include any topic, such as sports, news, reviews, games, and animals. TikTok is the compact version of YouTube. Each video's maximum time is one minute, so the trend changes fast. Some are informative, but usually, people upload dancing videos.
Furthermore, video platforms can be broadcasted live where the viewers can chat and communicate with the host. Twitch is the most popular live platform. The hosts usually play games, speaking directly by seeing the live chat. If the chat scrolls fast, people can donate them to emphasize their conversation only. Be careful to spend only a little on donations.
