In Korea, PC rooms are an unrivaled cultural space with most consumers in their teens and 20s. It is usually operated 24 hours a day and lets you pay a certain amount of money and use a very high-quality PC as you want for a certain amount of time. In the mid-90s, by the time Windows 95 was released, it started near universities and other places like foreign Internet cafes. It is not known how the expression PC + room appeared, but it is famous nationwide.

Even in English, this word is listed as a proper noun in the English dictionary as PC Room and PC Bang. In 1997, with the advent of a chain business called Internet Magic Plaza in earnest, PCs became the focus, and stores in the same form as current PC rooms that provide simple drinks or cup noodles began to spread. At that time, it spread around university districts such as Yeouido, Konkuk University Entrance, and Sillim-dong (Seoul National University). In fact, until then, the use of PC rooms had a higher proportion of office work than games. In addition, due to the spread of national PCs and dedicated networks, an environment where the Internet can be easily accessed at home has been created. However, the popularity of PC rooms did not cool down, but rather rose further. In addition, online games these days have more benefits from playing in PC rooms, which makes users make sure to use PC rooms

The 'PC Bang' is legally called the Internet computer game facility manufacturing industry. Before the enactment of the Game Industry Promotion Act, the legal name was tremendously multimedia cultural content facility manufacturing industry. It provides a PC for the consumer's use, in return for costs according to the time of use and is the same as the current term PC room definitions. Originally, the main purpose was to provide Internet-enabled PCs, but thanks to the popularity of StarCraft, the main purpose of PC rooms became games. In terms of PC room shares, it ranks first in League of Legends (39.45%), second in FIFA Online 4(14.71%) and third in OverWatch2 (7.17%).

When you think of PC rooms, you will think of them as just a place with a lot of computers, but PC rooms are continuing to develop, and there are many franchise-type businesses. As VR has become famous recently, PC rooms that review VR rooms are also on the rise.
