The Negative Effects of Social Media on the Younger Generation
이다인 강남포스트 학생기자 | 승인 2023.03.07 21:25

It is quite common knowledge that social media has taken over the younger generation. Everywhere you look, you see people glued to their phones, scrolling through various social media apps. While there is no denying that social media has its benefits, there is also no denying that it can harm younger generations.

First, social media can be a major source of anxiety and stress for young people. Constantly comparing themselves to others and seeing the "perfect" lives that other people portray online can lead to feelings of inadequacy and self-doubt. Additionally, social media can be a breeding ground for cyberbullying. With the anonymity that social media provides, people can say and do things that they wouldn't dare do in person. To the victim, social media can be a source of isolation, anxiety, and depression.

Furthermore, social media can be a distraction from more important things, such as schoolwork, family, and friends. Instead of interacting with the people around them, young people are often more focused on what's happening on their screens. This can lead to problems in school and at home.

Overall, social media can harm younger generations. While it is a great way to stay connected with friends and family, it can also be a source of stress and anxiety. It's important to use social media respectfully in moderation and to be aware of the potential negative consequences.
