Period Tracking AppsOver 50 million women worldwide use apps to track their period, and there are over a thousand apps that range from simply monitoring periods to dedicated fertility apps. The question is whether it is reliable and whether people that menstruate should use period-tracking apps. 

Through period tracking apps, people can chart their menstrual cycle. Monitoring periods are shown to make menstruators' lives easier. It provides access to period patterns and allows them to understand how their body reacts and changes during the menstrual cycle. Our body responds differently and changes because of the production of hormones to prepare for pregnancy during the cycle. 

Although it varies depending on age and hormone levels, menstruators experience similar symptoms, like mood changes and cramps. According to Clue (a period tracking app), tracking periods allows menstruators to understand their unique patterns, know when they ovulate, increase overall awareness of wellness and health, and understand and manage their mood. A period tracker app was initially built to help menstruators monitor each period's start and end dates. However, as more period tracking apps were made and developed, it also created new features like knowing their ovulation date, which helped apps gain more users. 

An online survey concluded that the best part about the app was knowing when they were ovulating. Even though period tracking apps are beneficial and shown to improve the quality of menstruators' lives, one common major worry amongst users is the app's reliability. These apps' information is only sometimes reliable as they are scientific devices programmed to predict and give results only by calculating the user's inputs. Yet, additional research indicates that dates expected by period trackers are typically correct, excluding any other external or hormonal influences. 
In conclusion, period tracking apps offer numerous benefits to users. However, their reliability is still a concern among users and something app producers are still trying to fix.
