Facebook is a social networking website and platform created in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg and a group of fellow college students. It is a social networking site that allows users to create personal profiles, which are utilized for communicating through various features such as messaging, commenting, and liking. Currently, it is ranked 3rd in the top 100 most downloaded apps. This app is a sensation and brought critical changes, but the changes aren't only positive. 

Facebook allows users to stay connected and destroy geographical barriers. It is a social networking website with subsidiary companies such as Facebook Messenger that will enable people to share ideas and thoughts and socially interact with others. Secondly, Facebook is a conglomerate corporation with more than 2.7 billion users, and due to the number of users, Facebook can be a great marketing strategy. Once a video or post goes viral, it can gain a lot of attention from the users since they all use the same software. 

Facebook is a great website that has excellent and significant advantages. However, this social networking site has substantial consequences. The first disadvantage is that it can cause addiction, especially in teenagers. People are afraid to be left alone and excluded, and Facebook allows you to communicate and socialize, which can be a significant factor that causes addiction. In addition, many teenagers spend a decent chunk of their time on Facebook since they want to ensure they are up-to-date with all happenings to fit in and are afraid to be excluded.

Secondly, another disadvantage of Facebook is that it can cause computer-oriented crime. Since Facebook can publicly share ideas and thoughts, some comments can be offensive in many different aspects. This is a massive issue since computer-oriented offenses can lead to depression, anxiety, and even death. 

Facebook is ubiquitous in our modern society, and making good use of it can significantly help us. However, the app's downsides are clear, and it is crucial to stay vigilant while using the app.
