On April 18th, rather tragic news struck the peaceful neighborhood of Westlake, California. Austin Eis, a 24-year-old Westlake High School alumnus, murdered a 15-year-old Westlake High School student at a bus stop, injuring three other students. 

The crime started with Austin Eis stabbing a male employee at a Simi Valley Walmart and continued with threatening occupants. About an hour later, Austin Eis crashed into a group of teens at a bus stop near Westlake High School. Wesley Welling was killed, and three other students, two girls and a boy, were injured. Austin crashed around 3:30 when the students were dismissed from school.

On April 20th, Austin Eis appeared in court for the first time. He was accused of plowing his car into teenagers, which ended up in the killing of one and injuring three students. Sid Garcia reported, “Eis was also charged with four counts of assault with a deadly weapon, use of pepper spray, second-degree commercial burglary, first-degree residential burglary, false imprisonment by violence, and three misdemeanor counts of brandishing a knife.” 

Community members and the Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village sent condolences to the family and mourned for the victims. All the community members were involved with the campaigns regardless of age. In Oaks Christian School, another school near Westlake High School, students and teachers gathered to pray for the victims and their families during chapel time.
