One of the worst contributors to pollution and global warming is plastic. Systems that recycle plastics and use them to make new items are in place to lessen impact. The recycling system gained widespread use starting in the 1970s. Some individuals, however, require education regarding each stage of recycling. What actions specifically comprise recycling? 

The first step is collection and distribution. Most consumers collect materials like pets, plastic bowls, or toothbrushes from homes and institutions. They distribute the materials into recycling bins so the companies can take them. 
Sorting and categorization come second. Plastics are not all created equal. Plastics come in various varieties that can be separated based on their color and thickness. Recycling equipment sorts plastics into several categories based on their intended use. 

The third step is washing. Even if some consumers wash plastics before they throw them away, most people don't. So, the companies must clean the plastics to remove impurities. 

Fourth, the companies shred and separate the plastics. They break plastics into little pieces for the following stages. Also, remaining impurities are found in this step. Depending on the size, density, and weight, the shredded plastics are separated by machine.
 
The last step is manufacturing. Plastic pieces are transformed into other manufactured goods or added to asphalts. Most of the plastics are recycled to make packages and plastic bottles. In a year, about three million tons of plastics are recycled. But only ten percent of plastics are recycled after being used. So we need to be aware and pay more attention to recycling systems.
