Populism, a political philosophy born from conflicts between the 'ordinary man' and a supposedly privileged elite, has experienced an unparalleled rise in the last several decades. Global populism has fundamentally changed the nature of international political dynamics. Populism is fueled mainly by rising inequality, economic stagnation, and marginalization among some demographic groups. Populist movements that promise to seize power from the elite and give it back to the "true people" have emerged in response to these socioeconomic pressures.

Global populism mostly has a significant impact on politics. The political discourse has undergone a significant transformation as a result. Populist leaders frequently use strong language to appeal to the emotions of their followers, further polarizing the political landscape. More extreme political viewpoints, such as solid nationalism, cynicism toward international collaboration, and anti-immigration stances, are frequent manifestations of populists. For instance, populist sentiment had a significant role in the Brexit referendum, which resulted in the United Kingdom's decision to leave the European Union.

Additionally, populism has started to alter international conventions and relations. Multilateralism, diplomacy, and consensus-building have traditionally been the fundamental principles of world politics. However, the emergence of populist politicians that take a more uncompromising and nationalist position has put pressure on international institutions and alliances. This change has sparked worries about the instability and conflicts between nations that could develop as populist groups continue to gather momentum. As a result, navigating the evolving landscape of international politics in the twenty-first century requires an awareness of the growth and impact of populism.
